Matt received a Bachelorís of Science in both Business and Geology at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Following college, he began his career working for Tanknology, an environmental firm, in Columbus, Ohio. After 3 years and being promoted to operations manager over the Ohio Valley Region, he decided to follow his passion into real estate and became a commercial real estate appraiser with Crown Appraisal Group based in Columbus. At Crown, he appraised a wide variety of commercial property types including apartments (subsidized, low income tax credit, and market rate), shopping centers, office buildings, industrial buildings, hotels, vacant land, churches, and special use properties. A majority of these properties were investment grade real property. Later, he joined American Appraisers Corporation out of Louisville, Kentucky. He continued to appraise all property-types; however, saw an increased number of low to mid capital properties. Gaining excellent experience and developing a niche in the appraisal of special-use real estate, he also worked with Integra Realty Resources, Kentucky Southern Indiana and became affiliated with Gustavson Associates based in Boulder, Colorado for mineral valuation.
Now at Chapman Appraisals LLC, Matt is responsible for preparing appraisal reports and market studies for all commercial and mineral property-types throughout the country.
Matt is a MAI, recognized as the highest level of designation given to a commercial appraiser. Asked to testify as an expert witness on multiple occasions, giving talks at industry events, being involved with several real estate professional organizations (Appraisal Institute, American Institute of Minerals Appraisers and International Right of Way), and performing complex real estate assignments regularly - Matt is considered an expert in valuation of both commercial and mineral properties.
